The case of the X practice

The CQC uses national averages (as expected values) for every indicator and then compares each GP practice’s observed value against it. The comparison is made via z scores (amount of standard deviations below the national average). Our proposal is to use predictive analytics to set expected values for each practice on the basis of their demographic. We are able to predict performance on the basis of multiple population characteristics which are highly related to outcomes.
